RAIFORD, Fla. (WWSB) - Florida is scheduled to execute Jesse Guardado at 6 p.m. Thursday at Florida State Prison in Raiford.Guardado, 64, was convicted in the 2004 murder of Jackie Malone, 75, in Walton County. He pleaded guilty and confessed to fatally stabbing and beating her.Florida executes 17th inmate of 2026 amid protestsMalone had previously helped Guardado find employment and housing.The execution is scheduled to be carried out by lethal injection. If it proceeds, it would be Florida’s 19th execution of 2026, tying the state record set in 2025 under Gov. Ron DeSantis.An execution also took place overnight in Indiana, and another is scheduled Thursday in Alabama.
