ANGOLA, Ind. (InvestigateTV) - A group of Trine University engineering students spent months designing a device to help a Navy veteran regain the ability to shoot a bow, after injuries left him without the use of his left arm.Chester Evitt, a Navy veteran who served in the Gulf War, was shot in the arm during his service. A second injury three years ago worsened his condition.“Because I’ve lost most of the use of my left arm, I can’t hold anything in it. I can’t shoot my bow,” Evitt said.Evitt told his doctor at the VA about his problem with the bow. That conversation started a chain of events that eventually connected him with the Trine University engineering team through a program called Project S.E.R.V.E.According to the organization’s website, Project S.E.R.V.E. aims to “improve the lives of veterans and emergency responders living with injuries or disabling conditions through student-led engineering projects.”The Trine team’s workStudents Ava Dobbins, Cooper Clark, Andrea Mendoza
