Start with your budget and your health history “I think the first thing I would look at is your budget. What can you afford?” Amy O’Rourke, an aging expert, said. “Typically, the Medicare Advantage plans are less expensive. Traditional Medicare, you have a supplemental plan that’s got a higher cost.” O’Rourke said family health history matters just as much as the monthly premium. “The other thing I look at is your family history of chronic diseases.
